Your Questions, Answered

Get answers to common questions about personal training, online coaching, and how One More Rep London approaches fitness differently.

What makes One More Rep London different from other fitness coaches?

Most of us have experienced that trainer who gave you the same leg day workout as everyone else, just with your name at the top. That doesn't happen here. Programming is designed around your specific body – your tight hips, restricted ankles, and that shoulder that's never felt quite right. You'll actually understand why you're doing what you're doing, not just following instructions. That's the difference between custom coaching and template workouts.

Do you work with beginners or only experienced athletes?

Both, and everyone in between. Complete beginners who are intimidated by gyms train here, alongside competitive athletes chasing performance goals. The 25-year-old preparing for military selection and the 70-year-old managing arthritis both get programming designed specifically for them. The approach stays the same – assess how you move, design programming for your body right now, and address limitations systematically. What changes is the application, not the principles.

Where are you located?

The facility is at 275 Colborne St in downtown London, which means you're not fighting traffic to get across the city. Whether you're coming from Byron, Old North, Wortley Village, Westminster, or surrounding areas, you're close. The facility has actual equipment that matters, not 40 treadmills and one squat rack. It's a climate-controlled, professional environment where you can focus on training.

How long are training sessions?

Sessions run 60 minutes – actual training time, not small talk and stretching that you could do at home. You warm up properly, do real work, and address mobility needs.

Can I train with a friend or partner?

Absolutely. 2-on-1 training splits the cost while maintaining individualized programming. You and your partner might do the same movement patterns, but with different loads or variations based on individual restrictions. Plus, having someone waiting makes it harder to skip sessions when motivation is low. This works great for couples or friends committed to showing up consistently.

What is custom coaching?

Custom coaching means your programming is actually designed for you, not pulled from templates. It starts with an assessment of how you move, where you're restricted, and what breaks down under load. Your ankles don't dorsiflex well? Your squat variation accounts for this instead of forcing positions your body can't access. Progress is based on how your body actually responds, not predetermined plans written weeks ago.

What's the difference between in-person, hybrid, and online coaching?

In-person training gives you direct coaching at our downtown London facility with real-time feedback and scheduled accountability. Hybrid training combines in-person sessions weekly with detailed programming for independent training days. Online training delivers customized programming remotely with regular check-ins. Each option maintains individualized programming – you choose based on your needs, location, and the level of financial investment you are willing to make towards your health.

How does online coaching work if I live outside London?

Online coaching is available worldwide. I currently work with clients in Vancouver, Calgary, Newfoundland and Labrador, Montreal, and Toronto, as well as in the United States, South Korea, England, Japan, and China. You’ll begin with a virtual initial assessment, followed by customized programming based on your goals, available equipment, and any limitations. Regular check-ins allow you to share how training feels, what’s improving, and where you’re struggling. Your programming is adjusted based on this feedback. This is professional, individualized coaching delivered remotely—not generic programs.

What if I don't have much equipment at home?

Online programming is designed around your available equipment. You have dumbbells and a bench? Programming works with that. You have a full home gym? Programming uses it. You train at a commercial gym? Programming accounts for that environment. The exercises change based on equipment, but the principles and systematic progression remain constant.

Can you help prepare for police or firefighter fitness tests?

Yes. Specific programs are designed for FORCE evaluation (military), PREP test (police), and CPAT exam (firefighter). These tests are mandatory to pass the application process. Programming addresses the exact energy systems, movement patterns, and strength standards they require. Preparation typically spans at least 12 weeks, depending on your starting point.

Do you work with people managing Parkinson's or MS?

Yes, extensively. Experience includes working with clients managing Parkinson's, MS, Alzheimer's, and post-amputation rehabilitation. Neurological conditions don't make training impossible – they make generic programming inappropriate. Sessions account for symptom variability, balance concerns, and fatigue patterns unique to these conditions. The goal is maintaining function and building strength despite the challenges.

Can you help with arthritis or chronic pain?

Yes. Arthritis requires strengthening without aggravating inflamed joints through appropriate exercise selection and load management. Chronic pain often requires distinguishing between pain indicating tissue damage versus nervous system sensitization – two different situations requiring different approaches. These situations benefit from custom coaching because templates don't account for necessary modifications.

Do you train older adults?

Extensively. I have certifications in older adult training, plus years working with clients over 50, managing everything from basic age-related changes to complex health conditions. Getting older doesn't mean accepting less – it means training smarter. Programming addresses balance concerns, strength maintenance, and mobility restrictions affecting daily activities.

Can you work with post-surgical clients?

Yes. Post-surgical recovery means rebuilding capacity systematically within physician guidelines while addressing compensations that developed during healing. Coordination with your physiotherapist or physician ensures programming aligns with your recovery timeline and medical recommendations.

What is fascial stretch therapy?

Fascial stretch therapy uses assisted stretching on a treatment table with traction and specific movement patterns to mobilize joint capsules and fascial layers your foam roller can't reach. Sessions run 60 minutes while you lie passively. Most people notice immediate improvements, with bigger changes developing over weeks as tissue remodels.

Who benefits most from fascial stretch therapy?

People whose mobility hasn't improved despite consistent stretching. Your hip still won't squat deeper. Your shoulder still feels restricted overhead. You're stuck despite doing everything right. This usually means restriction exists in joint capsules or deep fascial planes requiring traction – exactly what fascial stretch therapy addresses.

Can I combine fascial stretch therapy with personal training?

Yes, and it's a powerful combination. Training builds strength and addresses movement patterns, while fascial stretch therapy addresses mobility restrictions limiting your training. Better mobility means more effective training. Better training means building strength in ranges you couldn't previously access. Many clients do both because the results compound.

How much does personal training cost?

Our coaching is full-circle, rather than just workouts. Every client receives a comprehensive in-person program that includes:

✔ In-person coaching

✔ Customized homework

✔ Ongoing communication & support

✔ Meal guideline recommendations

✔ Body composition scans

Because we offer a complete, personalized experience, as opposed to one-off sessions, we do not price by the session. For all pricing inquiries and to find the best package for your goals, please contact us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! You’re free to pay bi-weekly, monthly, in two chunks, or in full. The goal is making coaching accessible while ensuring timeframes that produce results.

Is there a minimum commitment period?

Initial packages start from 12 weeks, because your body needs time to adapt. You can't meaningfully assess whether programming works in three weeks. This minimum ensures adequate time for results. After initial packages, many clients continue for months or years because they've experienced what systematic progression produces.

What's included in the free consultation?

Your free consultation includes movement assessment that reveals restrictions you probably don't know you have, a discussion of your training history and goals, and an honest evaluation of whether One More Rep fits your needs. The consultation takes about 45 minutes. You'll learn valuable information about your body, whether you decide to train here or not.

What happens after the consultation?

You'll receive clear recommendation about whether One More Rep fits your needs, what training format makes sense for your situation, and what package structure works for your goals. If the approach aligns with your needs, you'll select a package and schedule your first session. If not, you've gained information from the assessment. There's no pressure to commit.

What should I bring to training sessions?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows full range of motion. Bring athletic shoes and a water bottle. Everything else is provided. If you have specific equipment you prefer, like lifting belts or wrist wraps, you're welcome to bring them, but nothing is required.

What's your cancellation policy?

A minimum of 24 hour’ notice is required for any session changes or cancellations. This allows time to adjust scheduling or offer your time slot to other clients. Sessions cancelled with sufficient notice may be rescheduled within your package timeframe. Late cancellations, illness, emergencies, or no-shows will result in forfeiting the session, as the time was reserved and could not be filled.

Do you offer early morning or evening sessions?

Yes. Sessions are available early morning before work, throughout the day for flexible schedules, and evening for after-work training. Availability is discussed during consultation based on your schedule and current openings. The goal is finding times that work for your life.

Is parking available?

Yes. Complimentary parking is located directly in front of the facility for your convenience.

How do I schedule my free consultation?

Click "Book Your Free Consultation," select an available time that works for your schedule, and provide basic contact information. You'll receive confirmation with details about what to expect. The consultation takes about 45 minutes. Wear athletic clothing so you can move for the assessment.

Please note: One More Rep London requires a $100 fully refundable deposit to secure your consultation. This helps ensure we are working with individuals who are fully committed to their goals. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies. If you fail to attend your consultation or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the deposit will be forfeited.

Can I contact you with questions before booking?

Absolutely. Call, email, or use the contact form on the website. It's better to answer questions now than schedule a consultation that isn't appropriate for your situation. Happy to discuss your specific needs and whether One More Rep makes sense before you book.
